Andrew Bertagnolli, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in Behavioral Medicine. Behavioral Medicine is the application of psychological theories, scientific psychological findings, and techniques of psychotherapy, behavior modification, cognitive, interpersonal, family, and life-style therapy to improve the psychological and physical health of the patient.
Dr. Bertagnolli utilizes a biopsychosocial approach which recognizes the importance of addressing the interaction between physical, psychological and social factors in both the prevention and management of disease. Dr. Bertagnolli has authored several scientific journal articles and lectured both nationally and internationally in the areas of cognitive-behavioral therapy with medical patients, psychological approaches to pain management and the integration of psychology into primary medical care. Dr. Bertagnolli received his Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee and his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from California School of Professional Psychology in Alameda, California.
Dr. Bertagnolli is an Adjunct Professor at Alliant International University in San Francisco, California. He has also been on the faculty of the California Institute of Integral Studies, the Wright Institute, San Francisco State University, University of California, Berkeley, and University of California, San Francisco. He serves as an expert reviewer for the California Board of Nursing and California Board of Psychology. Dr. Bertagnolli is a member of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the American Psychological Association, American Pain Society and the California Psychological Association.
